Let's get things straight: I don't expect y'all to pay me at all, let alone instead of the myriad of other people making far greater contributions to free software than I do. If I did FOSS development with the expectation of pay, then I really ought to reconsider my life choices ;)

That being said, if you do feel like tossing some change in my cup (probably to spend on whiskey, knowing me), then it'd surely help if I actually, you know, provided said cup, right? I can't promise you'd get anything specific out of throwing money at me. Maybe if enough people pitched in I could do something stupid like quitting my job to be one of those digital nomads like in the articles that pop up on Hacker News every once in awhile, but that's a pretty darn long shot.

If you wanna buy a beer (or five) for a guy who writes scripting languages for Erlang apps or frameworks for command-line Ruby apps or compilation scripts for Slackware packages, then this is the place to do it.

I also dabble in music, as well as in OpenStreetMapping, so if you wanna buy a beer (or five) for a guy who makes mediocre electronic remixes of the Cheetahmen theme song or fixes up map markers for tiny towns deep in the Sierra Nevada mountains, then this is the place to do it.
